Happy New Year, Magazine Clippings
Posted by: Josie | Filed under: Gallery Updates | Comments: No Comments

Happy new year! I hope everyone had a great holiday. For my first post of 2009, I decided to add a batch of magazine clippings to the gallery. Some of these are recent articles, but there are a few older things in there too.

I’ve also started working on Michelle’s filmography. I’ll be filling it with synopsis/trivia/info about all of her movies, so keep checking that.

Posted by: Josie | Filed under: News & Rumours | Comments: 1 Comment

Wendy and Lucy continues to gather rave reviews and award nominations. Today, The Toronto Film Critics Association named the movie as Best Picture and Michelle as Best Female Performance.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Film Critics Association gave Wendy and Lucy the Russell Smith Award, which is given annually to the best low-budget or cutting-edge independent film.

Congratulations!

“Greed” Perfume Ad, “Wendy and Lucy” News
Posted by: Josie | Filed under: Gallery Updates, Media, News & Rumours, Projects | Comments: No Comments

Here is the first picture of Michelle and Natalie Portman from their new (faux) ad campaign for Greed perfume. Thanks to Jay for sending this in! I’ve also posted another photo from Michelle’s L.A. Times photoshoot.

There is a great new interview with Michelle at Reel Talk TV. She talks about Wendy and Lucy and her career choices. I haven’t figured out how to rip the video, or I would do screencaps, but in the mean time, you can watch it here.

The official site for Wendy and Lucy has been launched. The site includes HQ stills and a higher quality version of the trailer. The movie has been included on AFI’s list of the top ten movies of 2008.

Parade Interview
Posted by: Josie | Filed under: News & Rumours | Comments: No Comments

Michelle has been interviewed by Parade Magazine. She talks about Wendy and Lucy, her problems with the paparazzi, and moving to L.A. when she was 15.

“I do sometimes wish that I could live with less attention but not being totally ignored by the world. It’s very wearing to be a celebrity. I wonder if people are going to follow me or if someone is going to pop out of nowhere with a camera. I get very angry but I’m trying not to let it stop me from living.”

Read the full interview here.

Wendy and Lucy opens at Film Forum in New York City today and at the Sunset 5 in Los Angeles on Friday.

Michelle Stars in Fake Perfume Ad
Posted by: Josie | Filed under: Projects | Comments: 1 Comment

Francesco Vezzoli, the Italian video artist known for his lavish parodies, has a new project: a faux perfume ad starring Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams, filmed by Roman Polanski. It’ll debut in February at the Gagosian Gallery in Rome. “Lately the art world has become a place where there is a lot of effort to create desire, so I thought Greed”—the name of the scent—“was an appropriate theme,” Vezzoli says. He recruited Portman and Williams because they’re “two A-list celebrities who have never endorsed a perfume,” he explains. “Natalie plays the good girl and Michelle plays the greedy one, and they start having a catfight over the perfume. They bite each other, pull each other’s hair, throw themselves on the floor, and all of that is filmed by Polanski in his epitomizing style.”

Michelle Appears in Ben Lee Documentary
Posted by: Josie | Filed under: Projects | Comments: No Comments

I kept forgetting to post about this, but here it is, finally:

Claire Danes, Michelle Williams, Winona Ryder and other Hollywood stars will feature in a new documentary about Australian singer Ben Lee.

Titled Ben Lee: Catch My Disease, the feature-length documentary paints an intimate portrait of the 30-year-old star who recorded his first album at age 14.

The documentary is about pop music, spirituality, fame, family and celebrity, and includes archival, performance and interview footage with Lee and many of his famous friends, such as former girlfriend Danes.

It has received funding from the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) Premiere Fund, and will have its first Australian screening at MIFF next year.

The Envelope & Movies Online Interviews
Posted by: Josie | Filed under: News & Rumours, Projects | Comments: No Comments

I just found these two new interviews with Michelle. Both interviews focus on Wendy and Lucy and the making of the film.

The LA Times Envelope
“Wendy and Lucy” was a way to free myself up again, like take one for free, just go out into the wilderness and throw out an experiment and feel loose again, to do something in private and in a really safe, tight bubble of an environment.” Read more

Movies Online
“You know, I’m a reader and I like to read books, and so it really captured…There were so many things in it, so many qualities of the writing, of the descriptive language, that were really captivating, but I also thought totally un-filmic. Like you couldn’t…How do you put that on a screen?” Read more
